How to stop distracting yourself from your emotions and actually feel them
Jessica Boston was featured in Stylist sharing her insight on why emotional avoidance is a natural human response. She explained that while compartmentalising can sometimes be necessary, lasting growth comes from curiosity, self-observation, and understanding the intention behind our actions.
To some extent, we all avoid our emotions. Often compartmentalisation is the only way to make it through the day. "To say, 'Never avoid your emotions, is a bit of a luxury," says Boston. "Sometimes we do avoid things, and that's human; it's OK. The key is to be curious about yourself, observe yourself and to check in with the intention of what you're doing and why you're doing it."
